My project started as a kitchen remodel. When I was realizing the results Shirley and her ‘A Team’ could accomplish, additionally we remodeled two bathrooms, a master bath, converted a small bedroom to a full walk-in custom closet, more recessed lighting in four rooms, accent lighting for art in two rooms, remodeling/accent lighting for a bar, plus painting in six rooms. Her vision for bringing ergonomics, functionality, color coordination and price/value is exceptional. She is especially talented and visionary in coordinating the use of lighting. Shirley works closely with her dependable contractors and suppliers to assure the project progresses smoothly in a reasonable timeline. I highly recommend Shirley, you will not be disappointed.

Shirley Hammond (Perceptive Designs, LLC) successfully remodeled our historic home kitchen in 1995. Now as repeat customers, she has enhanced our downsizing to a retirement town home. Shirley's attention to detail and her expertise in making smaller spaces more livable was especially helpful. She focused on improving the kitchen and great room areas by expanding each to outdoor landscaped patios, giving an open, breezy, beachside atmosphere. Improvements included a custom entertainment center, decorative staircase, new kitchen, additional pantry space from a closet, recessed lighting, new flooring, additional file space and coordinated paint colors for rooms and baths. Shirley also recommended furniture placement in the remodeled areas. Needless to say, we are enjoying the results.

Our project included remodeling a kitchen, master bath and hall bath and updating flooring on the entire main floor. Our kitchen was small and lacked workable counter space and storage. Our master bath was also small and outdated. Shirley designed a plan that opened up the kitchen to the adjoining living and dining rooms and enabled us to have a large island. We are amazed at the amount of counter space and great storage we now have in our beautiful new kitchen. In the baths, Shirley designed a larger master bath with lots of outside light and access to the adjoining screened porch. The hall bath gave up space to the master bath but is now an efficient bath with lots of storage and much more useful space. Shirley was great to work with throughout the entire process. She guided us through the entire process recommending reliable vendors and assisting us in making selections along the way. She understood the look we were trying to achieve and helped us stay true to this in the selections we made along the way. Our completed project is more than we expected to achieve in functionality and beauty.

It is so important to have a professional helping place the appliances, having the cabinets functional, getting the lighting in the right places and using the space to the best advantage for our lifestyle. We bought our house in May of 2021, with a vision to redo our kitchen in a more functional and more beautiful way, while adding more cabinet storage. We are in Tennessee, with lots of kitchen remodelers around but we wanted to reuse most of our existing Wood-Mode cabinetry. Luckily, we had a dealer just down the road, Shirley Hammond at Perceptive Designs, LLC in Decatur, Alabama.
Shirley visited our house, made great suggestions, took dimensions and one of our cherry doors to match the stain color. Our kitchen turned out great. It all looks exactly as we desired and we are both very happy with the materials and installation. Our installer, Don Suggs, did a wonderful job. Bottom line, it is a beautiful and functional kitchen. Working with Shirley was great. We would recommend her to anyone.
